Joint municipal authority for North Karelia social and health services recommends cancelling public events for more than 50 people in North Karelia

Joint municipal authority for North Karelia social and health services Siun sote recommends banning public events for more than 50 people for a fixed period of time. A decision by the Regional State Administrative Agency of Eastern Finland is expected on Friday 27 November.

Kontiolahti Sport Club and The Finnish Biathlon Association have decided today, based on recommendations by the regional joint municipal authority for North Karelia social and health services Siun sote, that the biathlon World Cup events in Kontiolahti in November and December will be held without spectators.

The two organisations state that they wanted to make a decision immediately when the recommendations were available. This way, as many people as possible will have time to react.

Event manager Sami Leinonen says that those who have bought tickets will get their money back.

"We will contact those who have purchased tickets and advise them how to proceed. Over the next 1,5 weeks, however, the event organisation will have a big effort ahead of it when organising two world cup events. Therefore we're asking for ticket buyers’ patience in this matter”.
