Koli and Kontiolahti Hand in Hand – Finland’s Iconic Landscape Meets World Cup Excitement

Finland’s most beloved national landscape and world-class sports excitement come together in a new way – through the Biathlon World Cup travel packages that connect the Koli National Park and the Kontiolahti Stadium.

The Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti will bring thousands of visitors to North Karelia, in eastern Finland. For international fans, ready-made travel packages now make it easy to combine top-level sport with the beauty of Finnish winter nature.

Each package includes grandstand tickets for all race days, airport and stadium transfers, and four nights’ accommodation at Break Sokos Hotel Koli or Koli Kylä – located about an hour’s drive from the Kontiolahti Biathlon Stadium, right next to the famous Koli National Park with its breathtaking views over Lake Pielinen.

The packages are sold by Elämys Group (Elämys Matkat), the official tour operator for the Kontiolahti Biathlon World Cup and the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Ireland.

“Biathlon is extremely popular across Europe, and we want to give fans the chance to experience it in the authentic Finnish winter. The combination of Koli and Kontiolahti offers both sporting excitement and nature experiences in one trip,” says Hanna-Kaisa Sorjonen from Elämys Group.

Thousands of Nights Booked for the World Cup

During the World Cup week, accommodation around the biathlon stadium will again be in high demand.

“For the previous event, around 7,000 overnight stays were coordinated for teams and media representatives – in addition to accommodation booked independently by visitors,” says Jarno Lautamatti, Secretary General of the event.

The newly launched travel packages allow visitors to experience local activities and nature beyond the competitions.

“We’ve designed the packages to make travel effortless, with everything ready upon arrival. The competition schedule leaves time for visitors to enjoy Finnish winter activities – like ice swimming with a sauna, winter fishing, or testing their own skiing fitness. We’re happy to help travellers plan their additional experiences,” Sorjonen adds.
