Jeanmonnot Wins Short Individual, Minkkinen Magnificently 10th

French Lou Jeanmonnot took the win in Women’s Short Individual with clean shooting.

Jeanmonnot took the first place 12,3 seconds ahead of Sweden’s Ella Halvarsson, who missed one shot. Sweden’s Elvira Oeberg was third.

The victory was a career 5th in World Cup Individual events for the 26-year-old Frenchwoman.

Halvarsson scored her first ever podium in an Individual event. The second place was a happy surprise for the athlete.

- I don’t know what to say. I am so happy. Everything went so well in the race. Skiing felt very good, and I was really focused during the shooting, stated Halvarsson satisfied.

Minkkinen close to a jackpot

The Finnish woman of the hour was Suvi Minkkinen who reached 10th place after missing one shot in the last shooting.

Minkkinen finished 1.50,9 behind the winner.

- Being the first to start added to the excitement of the race. My performance was solid. I managed to calm down my shooting after the relays, and my work on the shooting range felt confident. The first three shootings were really good. The missed shot resulted from the tension, Minkkinen assessed her performance.

The other Finns included Venla Lehtonen, who placed 45th, Sonja Leinamo, 54th, and Inka Hamalainen, 81st.

- I am not pleased with the result even though three penalties are not bad. Shooting was not on my usual level; I went slow and kept it under control. Skiing felt good and I could have given more. Let’s make it better in the next race on Saturday, said Lehtonen.
