Oeberg Wins Mass Start – Minkkinen’s Top Week Ends with 11th Place

Swedish Elvira Oeberg took Women’s Mass Start with 16,2 second gap to French Julia Simon.

German Franziska Preuss took third place. Each top 3 athlete missed two shots.

Oeberg got to race in the World Cup leader’s yellow bib for the very first time.

- I have actually been a bit nervous today.

Oeberg missed one shot in the first and second shootings respectively, before she started her climb towards victory.

- You never want to end up in the position that you have to fight for every meter, every position. It was a pretty big leading group, so it was difficult to gain positions. But I know that when I am in this kind of shape, two mistakes is nothing to be worried about in the mass start, said Oeberg and was happy about having been able to finish victoriously.

Suvi Minkkinen’s fantastic week at home continued with an 11th place.

Minkkinen missed her only shot in the first standing.

- A solid performance. My body felt heavy compared to yesterday. I am a bit upset I could not ski the same way as yesterday. At the same time, I am satisfied that I can place so well with a slightly tougher feeling, Minkkinen summed up happily.

Minkkinen had a good reason to be very glad about her successful World Cup opening week.

- This season could not have started better, smiled Minkkinen.
