Kontiolahti 3.-6. ticket sales for the Biathlon World Cup in March will open on Wednesday, November 24 at 9 a.m.

The International Biathlon Union confirmed Kontiolahti's competition program earlier in the fall. According to it, the program includes the women's relay on Thursday, the men's relay on Friday, the sprint races on Saturday and the pursuits on Sunday.

—This kind of dense and rich program for four days is the best possible in terms of the atmosphere of the event, says Jarno Lautamatti from Kontiolahti Urheilijat ry, who is in charge of ticket sales.

Tickets for the grounds and the stadium

Tickets will be on sale for the A stand at the shooting range and the start/finish area, as well as for the track stand covering, among other things, the wall climb and the curve entering the stadium. The familiar VIP tickets from previous years, including meals, will also be on sale.

—We can build viewing capacity according to demand, Lautamatti says.

Tickets are sold in advance at Lippupiste's online service at Lippu.fi. In terms of pricing, the cheaper price tier ends at the end of January.

—In terms of pricing, we largely follow the model of previous years. There will be cheaper advance prices and special pricing for senior citizens, students and children, Lautamatti says.

From Beijing to Finland

Besides the Olympic Games, there are ten other competitions in the season starting at the end of November in Östersund, Sweden. The World Cup tour arrives in Finland from the Beijing Olympics and continues to Otepää, Estonia.

The director of the World Cup event Sami Leinonen says that the International Biathlon Union IBU has updated the corona guidelines for the starting season.

—We hope that the corona testing will be less compared to previous games, because the IBU trusts the effectiveness of the full vaccination series. The most important thing is still to take care of the use of a face mask, especially indoors, of sufficient safety intervals and good hand hygiene, says Leinonen.

Leinonen reminds that, in addition to the IBU's instructions, the guidelines for event arrangements are the authorities' instructions.

—We are calmly monitoring the development of the corona situation and its effect on the organization of events. We have good plans for organizing a safe event. It is an open-air event where the public has plenty of available space to watch the games.
