Kontiolahti Outdoor's announcement 31 January 2022
Kontiolahti Outdoor's ski holiday weekly programs have guided activities for every weekday. The activities are carried out in weeks 8-10 as guaranteed starts, so even one participant is enough, says development manager Mika Okkonen.
—We launched weekly programs for skiing holidays for the first time last year. The customers were those who traveled to the Joensuu region on their skiing holiday or stayed in this region for a holiday. With the experiences of a year ago, it was easy to continue the weekly programs this winter as well, says Okkonen.
You can also participate in the programs in week 9, even though Kontiolahti is hosting the Biathlon World Cup competition then.
—We temporarily change the departure and return location of the excursions, which allows them to be carried out.
Snowshoes for sliding
The most visible change to last winter's program is the change of guided snowshoe tours to sliding snowshoe tours.
—Last winter was a breakthrough season for sliding snowshoes, and from time to time the equipment ran out. For this winter, we will purchase more domestic OAC snowshoes, and we can also offer snowshoe trips as part of the weekly program, says Okkonen.
Other activities are guided fat bike tours and eco-gun shooting. The shooting takes place in warm indoors and is also suitable for children.
—The maximum number of participants is 10 people per guided activity. With this, safety distances can be maintained indoors as well, says Okkonen.
The cafe Napakymppi, which serves on the weekends before the ski holiday weeks, is open from Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the ski holiday weeks 8 and 10. During week 9 – the World Cup competition week – the coffee shop is reserved for event arrangements.
—In week 9, the stadium tracks are also reserved for event preparations and competition use. You can access the slopes from Monday, March 7. Similarly, pulkkamäki and our new game, a local app from the ice corner, can be booked in weeks 8 and 10, says Okkonen.
